Frozen Surprise Slides Review

Frozen Surprise Slides is a game published by Wonder Forge. It is for 2-4 players. In this game, players will be working their way through the mountains of Arendelle as one of their favorite characters from the Disney movie “Frozen”. They will have to be careful though as sometimes the path will change on them and they might find themselves sliding backwards down the path. The player that is able to traverse the slippery path and make it to Elsa’s Ice Palace first will be declared the winner.

To begin, each player choose a character piece. There are 4 options available; Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf the snowman. The board is placed on the table and the 4 double sided tiles are randomly placed into the board. Play now begins.

On a player’s turn, they will take the spinner and spin it. The result they get will tell them what color on the path to move to, or it could completely change the board. There are 4 different results that each spin can give; a color, a tile, 4 tiles or Elsa’s snowflake. If the spinner lands on a color, the player simply moves to the next closest spot of that color. If the spinner lands on a tile space, all 4 tiles in the board are taken out and flipped to the other side before being placed back into the board. If the spinner lands on the 4 tiles space, the player must then take out all 4 tiles, mix them up and then place them back into the board randomly. If the spinner lands on Elsa’s Snowflake, the player moves to the next closest snowflake on the path. This could possibly send the player zooming ahead forward or hurdling back down the path. There are also certain shortcuts on the board which can move the player ahead several spaces or could lead them backwards down the path as well. Players continue taking turns spinning and moving until one player crosses the finish line at Elsa’s snow palace. The player that does that first is the winner.

This game has some really cute and fun pieces to it. The board is very sturdy and the tiles fit perfectly inside the board. I really like that there are holes to stick your finger in to help be able to get them out. Trust me, you’ll be doing a lot of this. The artwork on the board and tiles are completely ripped straight from the world of Disney’s Frozen. Places like the Troll’s secret glen are represented as are the characters of Marshmallow the snow monster and Sven the reindeer. The player pieces are really cute and fun. Of course like every other little girl in the world right now, my daughter loves playing Elsa. These pieces are as durable and sturdy as the board and tiles. The spinner is really sturdy too and carries over the feel and look of the rest of the game. All in all, these are super cute, very sturdy and really fun.

The rulebook for this game is simply a double sided sheet of glossy paper. Of course that’s all you really need. It has some fun little artwork on it but that’s about it. Everything is extremely easy to understand and read. Once you’ve read over the rules, you know all that you need to know. You can put the rules away now and will have no need to pick them back up ever again. It’s just that simple. Enough said.

This game is really cute and fun. Basically if Candyland and Chutes and Ladders had a kid, this would be it. It takes the best ideas of both games and smashed them together into a really fun game. My daughter loves playing this game, especially as Elsa. I love the simplicity and fun of this game. The game is great and teaching kids color recognition. To me it’s even more fun than previous versions. The slide tiles move you farther than in previous versions. I also like that there are other places on the board to move you either forward or backward besides just the 4 spots that correspond to the tiles. This is a great first game for kids and is a game that my daughter absolutely adores.

Frozen Surprise Slides is a light children’s game that provides a new twist on Chutes and Ladders and Candyland. This is a very cute and fun game that kids will love. Kids will love being able to play their favorite characters from the movie. It’s really simple so there’s not a lot of rules to learn. Fans of the previous Surprise Slides games will love this one just as much if not more. The extra slide spots make for a lot more fun than previous versions for me. It even helps with color recognition for kids learning their colors. My daughter and I really enjoy playing this one. I’m sure that your kids will love it too.
