The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords – Sins of the Saviors Adventure Deck Review

sins

The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords – Sins of the Saviors Adventure Deck is published by Paizo Publishing. It adds new locations, monsters, villains, items and 5 new scenarios that make up the Sins of the Saviors adventure path. This is based on the Pathfinder RPG adventure of the same name. Players will be forced to slay a ferocious dragon, face the magical might of ancient sins as they claim treasures of extraordinary power. They will face off in 5 new scenarios designed to continue leveling up your character and provide new adventures to play.

For how to play, check out the base game review here.

COMPONENTS
This expansion adds an extra 110 new cards to the base game. Like the previous adventure decks, the cards in this deck look just as amazing. There are lots of great cards in every variety, from villains and henchmen to weapons and allies. The monsters are really cool in this one. I love the various elementals and the succubus. The elven sharpshooter ally is pretty darn cool too, but I think it gets trumped by the option of having a velociraptor as an ally. That’s right, I said a velociraptor. There is nothing cooler than that. As with my previous reviews, I mentioned that the card size is a little larger with these sets. It’s not a problem. It’s simply something that should be noted.

RULEBOOK
There is no rulebook included with this expansion. All rules needed to play are provided in the base game.

GAMEPLAY
As with other adventure decks for this game, there is a lot of great adventuring fun to be had here. Paizo has designed a really great world and this adventure deck just pulls you in more with every scenario that you play. There’s lots of great customization that can be done by adding these cards in with your characters. To me, this just makes the base game even better. The monsters are getting stronger and meaner which means that the weapons and items have to get better as well, which they do. I’ll take that wand of treasure finding please, thank you. This deck adds a lot of cool stuff to an already cool game.

OVERALL
The Sins of the Saviors Adventure Deck is a great addition to a already great expanding and customizable game. There are more scenarios and adventures to really get your blood pumping. Fans of the Rise of the Runelords base set will most definitely want to add this to their collection. It adds lots more to the game and expands as well as helps customize your characters even more. To me, this is a no brainer. If you have the base set, you need this. As I said earlier, two words….velociraptor ally. I highly recommend it.
