The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Skull & Shackles- Tempest Rising Adventure Deck is published by Paizo Publishing. It adds new villains, henchmen, locations and more. It also adds 5 new scenarios that make up the Tempest Rising adventure path. This is based on the Pathfinder RPG adventure of the same name. The main goal will be to face down the Hurricane King as you try to impress the Pirate Council. These scenarios will help you level up your characters and provide lots of new adventures to play.

For how to play, check out the base game review here.

COMPONENTS
This expansion adds a lot of great new cards to the base game. As with the base set and previous sets, the artwork on the cards is top notch. There are cards of each and every type that will add some truly amazing adventures. There are also several new ships in this pack including the Kraken. Who doesn’t want to own a ship named the Kraken. SERIOUSLY! There’s even some seriously cool loot included as well. Every card just draws you more into the theme of the game and they all look and feel very nice. There are lots of new things that will help you customize your characters even more. We all know how much I love customization.

RULEBOOK
There is no rulebook included with this expansion. All rules needed to play are provided in the base game.

GAMEPLAY
Just like the earlier Adventure decks, this one provides a lot of new stuff to keep you deep in the Skulls & Shackles universe. It follows alone with the original RPG only in card format. This goes great with the base game and continues your path as a hero. It’s really exciting and the challenges are increasingly more difficult. The addition of the rare loot cards make it worth working your way through those locations. You just have to be aware that each new location might have some really dastardly monsters like the Werecrocodiles or the Blood Hags. This is a really great addition to the game and provides for hours of great fun.

OVERALL
The Tempest Rising Adventure Deck is a great addition to a an already great expanding and customizable game. This is really fun and will add quite a bit more for anyone that already enjoys the game. Do you need it to enjoy the game? No, but if you already like the game, you will want this. It adds so much more to make your customized characters even better. I love the artwork and the theme is great, especially if you’re a fan of pirates. I highly recommend this addition to your base game, just make sure you pick up the earlier sets first. Pathfinder Card game fans can rejoice at another great addition to their already favorite game. I love this and you will too. It’s a definite must have.
